April — Nature Has No Interest in Perfection
Spend enough time outdoors in Port Stephens and you soon realise nature isn’t particularly interested in being neat.
Trees grow sideways.
Waves arrive wherever they please, as does Fingal Spit.
Clouds refuse to cooperate with photographers.
And birds seem genetically programmed to fly away the exact moment a camera is pointed at them.
Yet somehow it all works.
Perhaps there’s a lesson in that.
We spend a lot of time trying to get everything right — work, family, plans and ourselves.
Meanwhile, nature just gets on with being wonderfully imperfect.
Maybe we could all afford to do a little more of that.
